Back in October, I shot my first ever Hindu wedding! In fact, Anna & Anit chose to have a Hindu-Fusion wedding combining two ceremonies beautifully into one. Having the opportunity to photograph and experience new wedding customs is SO REFRESHING. My hope is that I will have the chance to shoot more diverse weddings that incorporate different cultures and traditions. My favorite part of the Hindu ceremony was when Anna & Anit exchanged their floral garlands (varmala), symbolizing their acceptance of each other and of their union. Such a beautiful display!
During the reception, the newlyweds surprised everyone by performing a traditional bhangra dance. And after, they lead all of the guests through the dance and taught them some of the moves. Is it just me, or is this a genius way to get more of the guests out on the dance floor?
Congratulations, Anna & Anit!
